This fire started yesterday or the day before and has grown to be 125k acres in just a little more than one day. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around 100,000 acres of land burning in just 24 hours.
This was the view from Denver last night:
East Troublesome fire, which, mind you happened in under two days:
Statewide fire map:
3 of our 4 largest recorded fires have happened this year:
It’s supposed to be snowing in the mountains right now. This sucks.

SW winds have
Loveland directly under that ash cloud. A
mazing amount of ash
all over
this morning
. I’d thought it was the Cameron Peak fire which is what I’d been paying
attention to since it’s way too close to me.

Any forecasted precipitation to help out?

Yike.
I’m about 10 miles SE of the Cameron Peak fire. Evac orders got as close to 3 miles from me. Hopefully the snow will this weekend will help all of these.

My SIL just sent me photos of that fire. She’s currently on the fire line.

I’m getting last summer vibes about that image. It’s not nice is it?
Fortunately , this year, we are going into summer with the drought largely broken and a La Nina declaration...in fact, we may get another inch or two of rain in the next couple of days.

It looks like it’s headed straight for Estes Park. :(
